It can be difficult to find accommodation ashore in Tarbert Village and it fills up quickly when the Scottish Series is on. But don’t despair!! For SS24 we are putting additional processes in place to assist those who need some space ‘off the race boat’ to accommodate crew. Key is to act early before options fill up with tourists. You need 4 nights from the evening of the 23rd to the 26th of May 2024 to sort yourself for SS24.
Firstly, the CCC Office is there to help you and the person you want to speak to is Bronwen. So, if your booking.com enquiry proves unsuccessful, don’t fret! Just call 0141 221 2774 and make an enquiry. Alternatively, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please consider the following possibilities:
- Mother Ships – Tarbert Harbour will have an area set aside for accommodation vessels – call the Marina at Tarbert Harbour on 01880 820 344.
- Busses – At SS24 there will be late evening bus transport to the north and south of the village to take crews back to accommodation bases at West Loch Tarbert, Stonefield, Ardrishaig and Lochgilphead at the end of evening festivities. So, no need to look for that volunteer driver to stay on orange juice all night.
- Portavadie Marina – like the bus system locally at Tarbert there will be an evening water taxi service to Portavadie to take crews back to accommodation and mother ship berthing options there – call Portavadie Marina on 01700 811075.
- Kames – There are loads of excellent accommodation options available in Kames and Tighnabruaich. If there is uptake, we will arrange evening bus/taxi transportation from Portavadie over the hill to there – takes 10mins. Please consult the office on this option.
Few regattas can house all their competitors in property overlooking the marina entrance! Scottish Series is no different but there are options and the CCC Office has the local knowledge to make these available to you.
In the words of Donald Sutherland in Kelly’s Hero’s – ‘Less of those negative waves man!’ Accommodation is not a reason to miss SS24!
